Community Counts – news and resources to help local people

Welcome to the Community Counts column on Hello Lincoln – a round-up of the news from the groups, schemes and organisations that may just be able to provide the support or help you or your family need.

Much of the information in this first column has been supplied by Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Partnership, but we’re inviting all groups working in the wider community to get in touch with their news.

CORE20Plus5 Asthma Survey

Do you have asthma and are you under 25 or are you a parent or carer of someone under 25 living with asthma in Lincolnshire?

As part of the CORE20Plus5 programme the organisation is asking people to complete a survey to help NHS Lincolnshire to improve asthma care and support that it provides to young people across the county.

You can access the form by clicking on this link.

If you would like to know more about the survey, go to our Children Living With Asthma Survey.

Edge of Care Service Consultation

The current contract for the Lincolnshire Edge of Care Service (often called Safe Families) is due to end on June 30 this year.

As a result Lincolnshire County Council is seeking views on the service to help inform decision making on the future of the contract.

The volunteer-based service provides support for families whose children are at risk of entering the care of the local authority. Support includes parenting advice, practical help at home, day-time care and time-limited overnight stays for children and young people.

To inform the decision-making process, the council has launched a consultation, asking people for their views.

To complete the consultation survey, please follow this link to the Lincolnshire County Council website.

Wellbeing Walks reminder

Wellbeing Walks are short walks run by friendly, specially trained volunteer walk leaders, who are on hand to provide encouragement and support.

All walks are free of change and are open to everyone. You don’t need to preregister, just go along to one of the walks.

The routes start and finish at the same location as advertised and last between 30 and 90 minutes.

Don’t worry about your fitness level, as walks are over easy terrain and at a steady pace to suit everyone.

The walks can really help to boost your fitness and wellbeing. Almost everyone can manage a stroll, but these walks make it easier to start walking and stay active.

It’s impossible not to feel good when walking outdoors, it’s a natural mood-booster and you will certainly never be short of good company.
