FREE Birchwood Family Fun Day this Sunday

FREE Birchwood Family Fun Day this Sunday

Don’t miss the FREE Birchwood Fun Day this Sunday when residents can discover how they can influence £20m plans to reinvigorate the community.

The fun day has been organised as a community get-together by City of Lincoln Council and will have a host of attractions at Birchwood Leisure Centre between 10am and 2pm including family entertainment, activities and workshops.

Rooted Arts CIC, Lincoln City Foundation, Noise Academy, CVS Lincolnshire and more will be offering workshops and activities based around arts, sport and music for a wide range of ages.

The soft play area and climbing wall space will also be free during the day. This must be pre-booked in person at Birchwood Leisure Centre, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Visitors can also enjoy a free hot or cold drink or ice cream from the leisure centre’s café.

Council representatives will also be on hand to discuss how the Birchwood Pride in Place programme will work with community involvement. This initiative will see £20m invested in the area over the next 10 years with projects designed to create better environments and opportunities for residents.

The council will be managing the funding of the project, but how that money is spent will be decided by a Neighbourhood Board.

“The day will be about bringing the community together and people enjoying themselves, but they can also find out what Pride in Place means to them and how they can get involved,” said a spokesperson.

Hourly slots for climbing are at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm, while soft play is available 9-11, 11-1pm and 1pm-3pm.

The age limit for climbing at the centre is four years old minimum, no maximum age. Soft play age limit is 16, no minimum age.
