Local fundraisers invited to dog rescue charity opening

Jerry Green Dog Rescue will open a new charity shop in North Hykeham on MondayMarch 30.  

Local fundraisers and employees from Park View Veterinary Hospital will be invited to the opening including Karen and Norrun who will be familiar faces to many pet owners in Lincoln as part of the reception team.

They raised over £1,000 last July for Jerry Green by taking on a skydive (picturebelow).

The event opening at 10am aims to bring together dog lovers, and bargain hunters alike for a day of fun, community spirit, and celebration.
Speaking ahead of the opening,Karen Baldock, Head Receptionist of Park View Veterinary Hospitalsaid:“Norrun and I are absolutely delighted to have been invited to officially open the new Jerry Green Dog Rescue charity shop in North Hykeham, it’s wonderful to see the charity expanding into the Lincoln area.

"North Hykeham residents are well known to be dog lovers so I’m sure they will be keen to support the work of such as great charity. We’re really looking forward to meeting everyone on the day.”
Since opening its North Lincolnshire rehoming centre in 1961 followed by its South Lincolnshire centre in 1997, Jerry Green Dog Rescue has become a vital part of county life, rehoming thousands of dogs in need. 

The new North Hykeham charity shop, located at Units 1&2 Hykeham Green Shopping Centre will bring Jerry Green’s retail network to eight shops across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, each one helping to raise vital funds to give abandoned and unwanted dogs a second chance at happiness.

The opening will feature:
•    an appearance from Rusty, the charity’s dog mascot
•    puppacinos for your four-legged friends
•    free balloons for children 
•    the opportunity to meet the Jerry Green team and hear rescue stories first-hand.

Lynne McMahon, Head of Retail at Jerry Green Dog Rescue(bottom picture), added:“North Hykeham has a fantastic community spirit, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on opening day. 

Lincolnshire has been our home for 65 years and local people have shown incredible support for our work so we’re delighted to be putting down roots in North Hykeham. This shop is a new way for everyone to get involved, whether by donating, shopping, or volunteering, and every action helps transform the lives of dogs who need us.”
