Rebecca and Toffee go the extra mile for charity

Dog lover and wheelchair user, Rebecca, has been taking part in charity fundraiser, 60 Miles in May, with her faithful companion Toffee.

Rebecca has been wheeling herself through the miles to raise money for Jerry Green Dog Rescue, which is where she found and rehomed Toffee.

The charity’s challenge encouraged supporters to run, walk, swim, climb, wheel, bike, or a combination of activities to make a lasting difference for rescue dogs in need of a second chance.

Toffee was one of four puppies that were born at Jerry Green Dog Rescue after their mum Enid, was found wandering the streets confused, frightened, and heavily pregnant.

It's been a great experience so far. I won't lie, there have been some hard days where the aches and pains have limited what I can get done. However, reading everyone's comments in the challenge Facebook group on their journeys to the 60 miles, has really kept me motivated to push through and get the miles in,” said Rebecca.

Lily Finlay, Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager, added: “We’re so grateful to Rebecca and everyone taking part. Every mile completed helps us continue to care for dogs like Enid, Toffee, and his siblings, giving them the safety, care, and second chance they deserve.”
