Scothern youngsters enjoy new play area

Scothern’s new play area has officially opened marking the end of a year long project to refresh and improve local play facilities.

Scothern Parish Council began the project after noticing the old equipment had become tired and outdated. Residents were asked what they wanted to see in a modernised play space and their feedback shaped the final design.

Accessibility was a key priority throughout, and the upgraded park now includes new features such as a roundabout, alongside a range of equipment suitable for children of all ages.

West Lindsey District Council contributed £21,000 towards the project with the Parish Council funding the remaining costs

Jane Johnson, parish council chair said: “This week, with the weather being so good, the park has been packed after school. It’s just lovely to be able to have provided something new for the young people of the village.”

Parent Matt Smith, who was at the opening with his children, said it was good to see the children enjoying themselves experiencing the new play equipment. He said: “It’s great to see this investment in the village and to see the children having such a great time using the new equipment.”
