The Scholar Scoop – new café culture feature.

Welcome to The Scholar Scoop! This new series has been created by Hello Lincoln interns Lily and Katie to highlight the independent cafes in the city. 

The University of Lincoln students decided to start this strand as they found that Lincoln has many cafes that people may not have explored yet. 

“We want to shed light on these places and find out what makes each one unique. So, if you are walking around Lincoln and thinking ‘where can I get a coffee from’ why not try one of these places and discover where you can grab your new favourite drink.”

First up is Beyond Coffee where Katie discovered a unique takeaway service.

Tucked away just off the side of the High Street is a lovely spot called Beyond Coffee. Lincoln has many independent coffee shops but this one is a favourite for students and those who love to treat themselves to unique seasonal drinks or sweet treats. You can even get your drink to go in a can!

Officially opened on September 1 Beyond Coffee is a a great location to study or a catch up with friends. Its cosy space and great customer service creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for anyone to enjoy, even dogs. 

What makes this place special is the unique choice to have your drink made in a can. Inside they have their very own can sealer which involves a metal can lid being pressed on top. This is a great new trendy idea in replacement of the standard takeaway cup

A great idea for those who want to grab a drink before heading off travelling or to a lecture, without the fear of the drink spilling on the way.

Abi Elliot, a frequent customer, said:  “They do a student discount and it’s a good place to work, a very nice environment. They also write cute messages on the top of the drinks”. This bit of personalisation makes all the difference and shows how the little things can really make someone’s day.

Many students have discovered Beyond Coffee judging by the attention it has received on TikTok and some have created their own enjoying the coffee shop, its drinks and cookies. Lily and I both adored Beyond Coffee for its amazing tasting drinks and friendly staff, we only wish the space could be bigger to accommodate more people. We recommend you give this tucked away gem a try.
