Celebrating motherhood with new installation

A moving museum championing the everyday lives and achievements of 20 women in Lincoln will be staged in the city throughout March.

As reported on Hello Lincoln yesterday the first week The Museum of Me Lincoln: Womanhood will be held at the LNER stadium until tomorrow (Saturday) with Kicking Off – celebrating woman associated with Lincoln City Football Club.

The International Women’s Month 2026 event then moves to The John Dawber Garden at The Lawn complex from Tuesday, March 10 to Saturday March 14, 10am – 5.30pm daily when a new installation, Becoming Mum (below), will be unveiled.

Featured in We Are The Matriachy, an accompanying exhibition covering the complex transition into motherhood, are: 

  • Katy-Jayne Skayman - farm girl, to foster parent. 
  • Charlotte Sclater – a creative mother of four who finds her sanctuary in her garden. 
  • Lisa Davies - sword dancer, fire dancer, belly dancer, dancing queen and Mum of Sarah Trowman… 
  • Sarah Trowman - an expectant mother with a whole village of people waiting to support her. 

Cllr Natalie Oliver, executive councillor for culture at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “As a proud mum and champion for Lincolnshire’s families, I’m thrilled that Lincoln has been chosen to host this month-long celebration of womanhood.”

The third week is We Live and Learn at Lincoln Arts Centre which focuses on female academics, students and core staff at the University of Lincoln and their pursuit of wisdom. From 10am, Wednesday, March 18 to 5.30pm Sunday, March 22.

The Dean’s Garden at Lincoln Cathedral is the setting for the final week (March 25 -30), with Belief in Change which highlights the women in the landmark’s workforce.
