Unravelling conceptual art

Roy Summerfield Shapiro explains the often–sticky subject of conceptual art later this month.

His Art Talk, Conceptual Art – What’s It All About?, is the latest event organised by Open Art Lincs (OPAL) at St Nicholas’ Church Hall, Newport, Lincoln.

The painter and graduate of Goldsmiths College of Art will look at several conceptual artworks with each being paired with a well-known tradition piece. The pairings will show that each piece is looking at a similar idea or concept in a different way.

“This makes for a fascinating insight into how art of past centuries connects to the present,” said Kevin Byron of OPAL.

The talk on Tuesday, March 24 begins at 7pm and admission at £5 can be reserved through https://www.open-art-lincs.com/art-talks
