Love Your Planet events at Barbican

Love Your Planet events at Barbican

Two Valentine events in Lincoln focus on loving the planet as a contrast to the commercial pressures of the celebration.

Both will be held at the Barbican Creative Hub on St Mary’s Street and have been organised by Project Fashion Fixed.

Tonight Threaded: Loving Your Planet will be a relaxed, creative social evening for people who want to meet others, try new activities, and spend time in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

“The event is designed to help young creatives build confidence, explore ideas, and think about their future; creatively, personally, and professionally, without the pressure of formal networking or having to speak in front of a room,” said Project Fashion Fixed’s Kerry Gibson.

“There’s no pitching, no public speaking, and no expectation to perform. You can join in, sit back, or move between activities at your own pace.”

The free event, which is aimed at 16-to-25-year-olds, will include bingo, music and optional line dancing.

Doors open at 6pm with activities starting at 6.30pm through to 9pm.

Threaded: Make and Care starts at 10am tomorrow focusing on reusing items already owned, reducing waste and spending time together making and fixing.

“Held on Valentine’s Day, the focus is on care rather than consumption: caring for our clothes, our creativity, and the world around us,” explained Kerry.

The event is £7 for the full day and will include:

  • Clothes swap - a chance to refresh your wardrobe without buying new
  • Creative making tables - including sewing skills, mending, mend with felting techniques, zine-making, and other hands-on activities
  • Space to sit, chat, watch, or take breaks.

How does the clothes swap work? Drop off up to 10 items of clean clothing, shoes and accessories between 10-12 pm. The clothes swap will then open at 12pm Midday and stay open until 3pm.

Tickets for both events can be booked through the QR codes on the image below.
