RAF personnel are volunteer life-savers

Lincolnshire Emergency Medical Response (LEMR) is a volunteer-led charity made up entirely of current and former Armed Forces personnel.

LEMR includes volunteers from RAF Waddington, RAF Digby, RAF Coningsby and RAF Cranwell, all of whom balance their careers alongside their commitment to emergency medical response.

Each month, volunteers spend 18+ hours of their own time to respond to 999 calls, supporting East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) with rapid, skilled care when seconds matter most.

Operating fully equipped Rapid Response Vehicles from RAF Cranwell, they assess, treat and preserve life until frontline ambulance crews arrive.

LEMR is made up of around 45 volunteers from all trades and ranks from across Lincolnshire. On top of responding to emergency calls, they give up further spare time to complete  training which is delivered by EMAS, to stat up to date with the standards expected of front line crews and these photographs were taken a recent training session.
