YMCA Lincolnshire shines light on youth services
YMCA Lincolnshire is joining organisations across the country to celebrate Youth Work Week 2025, recognising the vital role youth workers play in helping young people to thrive.
Across the county, the charity’s team of dedicated Youth Workers support hundreds of young people each week - helping them to learn new skills, build friendships, gain confidence and find their voice.
This year’s national theme, “Safe places, trusted support and opportunities to thrive,” reflects YMCA Lincolnshire’s ongoing commitment to ensuring every young person has the chance to belong, contribute and succeed.
From Lincoln and Boston to some of Lincolnshire’s most rural communities, YMCA youth clubs provide safe and welcoming spaces where young people can relax, connect and be themselves. In many areas, these clubs are a lifeline, offering activities, mentoring and guidance that may not be available anywhere else.
Leo Copsey, Youth Services Manager at YMCA Lincolnshire said: “Youth Work changes lives. These clubs are more than weekly activities - they’re places where young people feel heard, discover their strengths and build brighter futures.”
The impact of this work is clear in the relationships formed between youth workers and the young people they support. One young participant recently told their Youth Worker, “You are like a big sister to me.”
Jo Townell, Volunteer Coordinator, added: “Volunteers also play a crucial role in delivering youth services. Their passion and time make a real difference. We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
As Youth Work Week shines a national spotlight on the importance of youth services, YMCA Lincolnshire is encouraging people to get involved - whether by volunteering, supporting activities, or championing opportunities for young people to thrive.
