The history behind Lincolnshire Day
Today – October 1- is Lincolnshire Day, which has been marked since 2006 to celebrate all the great things about the county.
From Lincoln Cathedral to Lincolnshire sausages or from the Red Arrows to the Magna Carta we have a lot to be proud of.
However, the date was chosen because it is the anniversary of the Lincolnshire Rising – a revolt by Catholics against the establishment of the Church of England by Henry VIII in 1536.
