Mayor takes on 150km charity running challenge
The Mayor of Lincoln is lacing up his running shoes for a month-long fitness challenge in aid of an Armed Forces charity.
Councillor Bill Mara is running 5km every day in November to raise awareness and funds for SSAFA, his chosen charity for the year.
As a veteran and former member of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, Councillor Mara says the cause is close to his heart. He hopes his efforts will shine a light on the vital support SSAFA provides to serving personnel, veterans, and their families across the UK.
“SSAFA does incredible work helping those who have served our country, and I wanted to do something meaningful to support them,” he said. “This challenge is my way of giving back and showing my appreciation for everything they do.”
Residents can follow the Mayor’s progress throughout November and are encouraged to donate or learn more about SSAFA’s work via the charity’s website: www.ssafa.org.uk.
