Body found in search for Connor

Police have discovered the body of a man while searching for missing student Connor Calleja.

Officers were investigating Foss Bank near Brayford Pool in Lincoln when the body was found. Formal identification has yet to take place, but police believe it is 20-year-old Connor who was last seen in the city in the early hours of Sunday, January 11.

His family, who are currently staying in Lincoln and have issued appeals about their son’s whereabouts, have been made aware of the discovery and are being supported by specially trained officers. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The University of Lincoln has emailed students to make them aware of this latest development.

“We ask the public and members of the media to respect the family's privacy at this very difficult time,” said a police spokesperson.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and those who contacted us to share information.”
