
Carholme Road update on works
Highways chiefs have released an overview of progress on the Carholme Road improvement project in Lincoln.
Achieved in September
- Completed Phase 2 resurfacing and carriageway marking works
- Completed A46 Westbound works on the A57 Saxilby Road / Carholme Road roundabout approach
- Completed Roman Wharf uncontrolled crossing
- Installed Phase 3 highways surface water drainage (gullies and laterals)
- Realigned kerb line around the large tree near Derwent Street to improve safety
- Started Phase 3 resurfacing works
- Started Phase 4 highways surface water drainage works, including gullies and laterals
- Pipe lining of the county council’s SW pipe to prevent road closure and deep excavation
What’s happening in October
- Install new Phase 4 highways surface water drainage gullies and laterals
- Install new channels and uncontrolled crossing at Hewson Road
- Continue footway resurfacing in localised areas throughout the site
- Continue reinstating and repairing ironworks in carriageway
- Complete A57 Saxilby Road / Carholme Road roundabout approach works
- Complete Phase 4 carriageway resurfacing and road markings
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals on weekdays throughout the project.
- Night-time road closures 7pm to 6am at:
- A57 Saxilby Road / Carholme Road roundabout – until the end of w/c 29th September
- Phase 3 / Roman Wharf to Severn Street – until the end of w/c 6th October
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Continued narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals will be in place on weekdays
- Night-time road closures from 7pm-6am on the following dates:
- Hewson Road – Wednesday 1 October for up to two weeks
- Phase 4 / Severn Street to the golf club – w/c 13th October for up to two weeks
- Minor resurfacing works on Newland and other nearby streets (including Brayford Way; Depot Street; Lucy Tower Street; and Orchard Street) starting on Monday 27 October for up to two weeks, 7pm-6am
Please note that all dates upcoming closure dates are subject to weather. Lincolnshire County Council’s public liaison officer will be in touch with residents and businesses affected closer to the time of the road closures with further updates.
