The University of Lincoln will make its first ever appearance on the iconic BBC quiz show University Challenge.

Lincoln’s debut episode is due to be broadcast on Monday, September 1 marking a historic moment for the university’s participation in the prestigious academic competition.

A team, captained by Sam Orman-Chan (Computer Science), alongside John Clayworth (History), Laura Bruce (Conservation of Cultural Heritage), and Grace Bloomfield (Chemistry), will represent the University of Lincoln against Lancaster University.

Team Captain Sam Orman-Chan said: “It was a great honour to captain the University of Lincoln’s very first team on University Challenge.

“Representing the University on such a prestigious and well-known programme was both exciting and frightening, but above all it was a fantastic experience that I will always remember.”

University Challenge is one of the UK’s longest-running and most respected television quiz shows, testing students’ general knowledge, speed, and teamwork in a high-pressure environment.

The episode will be broadcast on BBC at 8.30pm.
