Doncaster Rovers 0, Lincoln City 2
Lincoln City FC secured promotion to the Championship and the League One title thanks to the united front demonstrated by players, staff and fans.
Head coach Michael Skubala praised that unity after his side sealed the title with a two–goal win over Doncaster Rovers in front of 3,000 travelling fans
Ben House’s brace was enough for a 2-0 victory, but Skubala described it as another performance in which the teamwork and desire ran through every single player.
“We started that culture back in the summer, making sure that the players and staff are all connected.
“Everybody is working so hard together, all the staff throughout the club are giving everything for the players and the lads know that.
“It’s a real family - you can see when one gets hurt, their mate picks them up; when one doesn’t score, someone else goes and scores; when one doesn’t get their head on it someone else does.
“That's what makes us relentless and resilient, and that's what keeps it the work ethic in the team. They drive that every day in training as well.”
Skubala made one change with Rob Street returning to the starting line-up against the club he helped to the League Two title last season while on loan with Rovers.
City took the lead just before the interval when Moylan sent House through on goal. House calmly slotted the ball home with a first-time finish. His second goal came on 72 minutes when a long throw from Tom Hamer was flicked on by Street and House got down to head into the back of the net.
The win in South Yorkshire took the Imps to 97 points and Skubala felt his side were good value for the victory.
He said: “We saw a proper performance and we could have won by three or four goals with how well we played.
“This was another tough game against a team fifth in the form league. So this is not an easy team to play against, but the level of performance was amazing.”
