Emergency works to Branston Causeway

Emergency works to Branston Causeway

The heavy rain and high winds that lashed the county over Friday and Saturday had a knock-on effect on the current roadworks patching part of the B1190 at Branston Causeway.

Originally scheduled to finish tomorrow the works from the junction with the B1202 to Nocton Fen Lanehad to be paused while the worst of the weather hit Lincolnshire so their completion has been delayed until 5pm on Friday (November 21).

The road will remain closed with a diversion will be via the B1202, B1188, A15, A158, B1202 and vice versa.

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director of Highways at Lincolnshire County Council said: “We are putting these emergency repairs into action in order to address cracking and rutting on the edge of the road.

“This is a safety measure to ensure that the road is better to use. We have been closely monitoring the ongoing situation, and these works are a short-term plan for now.

“Currently, this scheme is one of a number of similar work plans that see us targeting the roads most affected by the very dry summer just gone. This set of works will cost around £200,000 to put in place.

“Our crews will complete the work as quickly as possible, but until the scheme is delivered, there will be a diversion in place for the safety of road users and those working onsite.”
