Extra police patrols among Christmas revellers
Extra police patrols in Lincoln city centre aim to ensure revellers have a merry and peaceful festival season.
Lincolnshire Police is working with partners on crime and disorder prevention so that everyone is able to enjoy the festive season safely, but people out celebrating are being urged to play their part by acting sensibly and take responsibility for their alcohol intake and actions.
Chief Insp Gareth Boxall is coordinating policing of the city centre with a focus on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
“We will have an increased number of officers who will be assisted by City of Lincoln Safety Wardens and our own Special Constabulary officers. We continue to work with British Transport Police, City of Lincoln Council, Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG), Lincoln Street Pastors and others to ensure the city is safe.”
Cllr Lucinda Preston, Portfolio Holder for Reducing Inequality at the city council, said: "We are proud to work closely with Lincolnshire Police and our partners, including both of the student unions at the University of Lincoln and Lincoln Bishop University, to support a safe and enjoyable night-time economy throughout the festive period. Christmas is a special time for our city, bringing friends, families, and colleagues together, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it as it should be, with their loved ones.
"It’s also a busy period for parties, social events and dinners, many of which involve alcohol, and we want to remind people to make smart choices. By looking after one another, treating others with respect and thinking before acting, we can help ensure the city centre remains a welcoming and safe place for all."
