Free one-hour slots at two uphill car parks
Free uphill one-hour parking slots have been announced to support Bailgate traders during improvement works.
City of Lincoln Council has organised the free parking at two uphill car parks during February while essential improvement works are carried out to the historic carriage setts, road surfaces, and pedestrian crossings along Bailgate to enhance safety and preserve the character of the area.
While all footways and nearby car parks remain open, some on-street parking bays may be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
To help mitigate the temporary loss of on-street parking during the most disruptive phase of the project, City of Lincoln Council will offer free one-hour parking throughout February at the car parks on St Paul’s Lane near Cobb Hall and Westgate 1 opposite the Castle Hotel.
The free parking sessions will be available exclusively to customers using the PayByPhone app.
The offer is designed to support regular customers who would normally make use of the free one-hour on-street parking to make short visits to local shops and businesses.
Customers selecting one hour of parking via the app will not be charged. Those choosing to stay longer will pay the normal tariff for the total duration selected.
Nicola Collins, Parking Services Manager at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We’ve worked closely with Lincolnshire County Council to support uphill businesses during these important Bailgate improvements.
“Offering free one-hour parking sessions at St Paul’s Lane and Westgate 1 car parks throughout February will help ensure customers can continue to access local shops easily while the works are taking place.”
