
Lincoln Half Marathon route news
The Lincoln Half Marathon takes place this Sunday with hundreds of runners expected to test themselves on the 13.1 route through the city.
The event organised by charity Jane Tomlison’s Run For All will start and finish at the Lincolnshire Showground but come into Lincoln to take in its historic landmarks the cathedral and castle.
The route
From the showground runners will head out onto the B1398 Middle Street/Burton Road before heading down Burton Road towards Lincoln Cathedral via Westgate, Bailgate, Eastgate and Minster Yard. Runners will then head alongside Lincoln Castle using Castle Hill, Drury Lane, and onto Carline Road.
Runners will the turn left onto Yarborough Road heading down West Parade, Beaumont Fee, Wigford Way and Brayford Wharf East.
The route will send particpants towards the University of Lincoln along Brayford Wharf South and Campus Way before turning onto Brayford Way. Runners will then head towards Brayford Wharf North via Carholme Road and Holmes Road before exiting back onto Wigford Way.
At this point runners will head onto Newland and the Avenue before retracing their steps up Yarborough Road but this time straight up and back onto the B1398 Burton Road and B1398 Middle Street. Runners will then return to the finish at Lincolnshire Showground.
Road closures
Roads around the route will be closed between 8.30am and re-open on a rolling basis. The latest road closure will be lifted for 1.30pm. Brayford Way will be open throughout the event and runners will use the cycle path along this section and there will be a specific access lane created from South Carlton throughout the event.
There will also be parking restrictions along the route.
