Lincoln Santa Fun Run takes place this Sunday
A sold-out Lincoln Santa Fun Run will take place this Sunday when up to 2,000 participants dressed as Father Christmas will create a sea of red in the uphill area of the city.
It’s the 20th outing of the popular family event organised by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia and each year it raises thousands of pounds for good causes – in 2024 £26,000 was collected by particpants.
For the special anniversary year special commemorative medals will be awarded to every finisher and 17 charity partners will be cheering their teams on, including BID Services, Lincoln Sea Cadets, Lincolnshire Rural Support Network, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, Lincoln City Foundation, Acts Trust and Royal Air Force Benevolent Association.
There are two routes of 4km or 2km, which both start in Castle Square at 11am and finish in Minster Yard by Lincoln Cathedral with spectators welcome to cheer on runners along the routes.
Dogs are welcome, especially if they are dressed in festive outfits, but organisers are warning owners to clean up any mess or four-legged friends could be banned in future years.
There will be a dog station in Minster Yard manned by Lincoln Guide Dogs where owners can pick up free dog poo bags before or after the event.
Lincoln Community Larder will have a donation point in Castle Square and a single donation from all runners and spectators could have a massive impact on many families this Christmas.
