Lincoln’s 25th Torchlight Procession to Honour Loved Ones

Lincoln’s 25th Torchlight Procession to Honour Loved Ones

Lincoln will welcome one of its most moving annual events later this month as the 25th St Barnabas Hospice Torchlight Procession lights up the city.

The event on Tuesday 18th November, provides families, friends, and the wider community with the opportunity to come together and remember loved ones.

What began 25 years ago with just 100 participants and a lone piper has grown into a moving gathering of over 1,000 people, led this year by the RAF Waddington Pipe Band, walking the historic streets of Lincoln with torches lit in remembrance.

The procession culminates at Lincoln Cathedral, passing the hospice on Nettleham Road along the way.

A highlight of this year’s event is the Tree of Life, generously donated by Doddington Hall and Gardens for more than two decades. The tree, which will stand outside Lincoln Cathedral throughout the festive season, will be officially illuminated during the procession, creating a powerful symbol of remembrance.

Supporters are invited to celebrate the milestone by dedicating a light on the Tree of Life in memory of a loved one, with donations starting at £25. The hospice emphasises that advance booking is essential as tickets are limited.

The Torchlight Procession promises to be a deeply moving evening of remembrance, unity, and reflection, marking a quarter-century of this cherished Lincoln tradition.
