Man arrested after death of pensioner - update

Update - the arrested man has now been released on unconditional bail.

A man is in custody today in connection with the death of an elderly woman.

Police arrested the 75-year-old man after the body of an 82-year-old woman was found at a property on Elm Avenue in Cherry Willingham on Monday afternoon. Next of kin have been informed.
At this stage investigators are treating the woman’s death as suspicious, but remain open-minded pending test results and toxicology to see if these shed light on the circumstances around the woman’s death. They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

A scene guard is in place at the property with officers expected to remain there today.
