Pupils flock to showground for Lincolnshire Day
Lincolnshire Showground is to host nearly 1,000 pupils for a two-day celebration of heritage, food, farming and countryside education.
The annual Lincolnshire Day celebration will take place at Showground on Wednesday and October 1 -2 and welcome Key Stage 2 pupils from 18 schools across the county for two days of immersive, hands-on learning.
Lincolnshire Day marks the anniversary of the county’s stand against the centralisation of power during the Lincolnshire Rising of 1536. It is a day to honour the county’s identity, heritage and resilience.
Lincolnshire Agricultural Society celebrate this important event by bringing together schools, communities and local organisations to inspire pride in the county and educate the next generation.
The programme is designed to keep the history of Lincolnshire alive while offering children a unique out-of-classroom learning experience focused on food, farming and the countryside.
Featured Activities Include:
- Royal Air Force STEM – Pupils will design, build and launch their own rockets in a workshop that brings space science to life.
- Ladies in Pigs – Children will make and taste Lincolnshire sausage patties while learning about local food heritage and British farming.
- Lincolnshire Chalk Streams – Pupils will explore the fascinating world of minibeasts living in Lincolnshire’s unique waterways.
