Noise warning as RAF Waddington hosts Exercise Cobra Warrior

Noise created by fast jets, transport aircraft and support helicopters will increase over the next month residents around RAF Waddington have been warned.

The air base south of Lincoln is the main host for the second part of this year’s Exercise Cobra Warrior, a multi-national, multi-discipline training exercise, which takes place from September 15 to October 3 with aircraft arriving and departing at Waddington on either side of those dates.

RAF Waddington’s social media is warning: “Local communities should be aware that there will be increased aircraft activity, including evening and weekend flying.

“You may notice higher noise levels than usual around the airfield and training areas.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we prepare aircrew for operational missions alongside our international partners.

“Your support makes a vital contribution to ensuring our personnel are trained and ready.”

Aircraft and support teams from the Royal Canadian and US Air Forces will take part with UK allies and other RAF bases affected include Raf Coningsby, Raf Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.

“Exercise Cobra Warrior strengthens our collaborative partnerships with allied nations, enhancing our ability to operate as a unified force. Through shared training, we refine tactics, deepen mutual understanding, and develop the seamless coordination necessary to fight together effectively in complex and evolving battlespaces,” said Wing Commander Sam Williams Officer Commanding 92 Squadron and Exercise Director.
