Shake-up in control of Lincoln City FC

Shake-up in control of Lincoln City FC

Lincoln City FC will have new American controlling stakeholders if a deal gets approval from the English Football League.

The club has confirmed that Liquid Investments Inc is seeking to become its controlling shareholder with former Major League baseball owner Ron Fowler assuming the position of chairman.

This follows a proposal by Ron (pictured above) approved at a board meeting on  December 11 for his company to increase its shareholding in Lincoln City Holdings to above 25%.

The announcement was made through yesterday’s release of the club’s annual report,  which also revealed the new stakeholders will assume responsibility for the funding of the club for the immediate future.

Fowler, whose son Andrew is also involved with the club (pictured below), originally bought a minor stake in city back in April 2024, but is now poised to replace another American and family friend Harvey Jabara as the majority shareholder.

This move has triggered several steps with the EFL and, as this process is currently ongoing, it limits what can be said publicly at this stage due to regulations which are in place to protect all parties, including the integrity of the league.

However, the report also states: “The additional funding to be provided by Liquid Investments, Inc. in the current season is earmarked for various projects at the LNER Stadium, which will aim to maximise our major assets and amplify our core focus on growing fan engagement, commercial revenue and innovation.”

While Ron will assume the role of chairman of both Lincoln City Holdings and the football club, current chair Clive Nates will remain an integral part of the club, joining Jay Wright as co-vice chairman.

The ongoing EFL process requires confidentiality from the club, but, as documentation for City's AGM needs to be released with 28 clear days’ notice, it has been given permission to provide an interim update.

There will be a full and detailed update from Ron and Clive, which is expected within the next two weeks.
