Speeding drivers warned

Police have warned speeding drivers that face prosecution from vigilant patrols across the county after a motorcyclist was clocked at 106mph in a 50mph limit on a Honda CBR Fireblade.

The 31-year-old man was found guilty of speeding on the A631 at Middle Rasen and has been banned from driving for four months and ordered to pay £1,206 in fines and costs.

“Speeding is a very real concern for our communities and it continues to be one of the primary causes of serious injury and fatal collisions in our county,” said a police spokesman.

“We have thousands of safe drivers who live and visit our beautiful county, but any driver or rider who travels at excessive speed endangers not only themselves and their passengers but every other road user too.

“They are simply not welcome on our roads. It doesn't matter if your car or motorbike can go faster, most can, the maximum speed limit on a single carriageway road is 60mph.

“We have increased enforcement activities, conducting patrols using marked and unmarked vehicles and also the use of speed detection devices and cameras too.”
