St Francis students discover hard work does pay

A group of students at St Francis Special School learned about the benefits of hard work thanks to the Mayor of Lincoln, Cllr Bill Mara.

Before Christmas, the students delivered the Ermine News publication to houses around the school, which is part of a wider City of Lincoln Council project to promote growth and improvement in the area

The council was so impressed by students’ efforts, that the Mayor stopped by to hand out congratulatory certificates. Just as importantly, he brought pay packets with him of chocolate coins.

Student, Dayton (pictured above) had to get over his nerves to meet Cllr Mara.  Dayton said he was shaking when called up to speak as ‘ you don’t get to meet a mayor every day’.

Head of school, Kelly Bradley, said: "A big well done to the students that braved the cold in order to ensure the successful delivery. And a big thank you to the council and the mayor for showing our students that their hard work does not go unnoticed."
