
University Challenge win for Lincoln
The University of Lincoln scored a victory on its first ever appearance on the iconic BBC quiz University Challenge.
Lincoln’s debut episode was broadcast on Monday night (September 1) with a team, captained by Sam Orman-Chan (Computer Science), alongside John Clayworth (History), Laura Bruce (Conservation of Cultural Heritage), and Grace Bloomfield (Chemistry) and supported by reserve team member, Jessica Doano (Mathematics).
University of Lincoln took on Lancaster University and secured a win scoring 170 points to its opponent’s 145 and progressing to round two of the competition, which was first broadcast on ITV in September 1982.
Team Captain Sam Orman-Chan said: “It was a great honour to captain the University of Lincoln’s very first team on University Challenge.
“Representing the University on such a prestigious and well-known programme was both exciting and frightening, but above all it was a fantastic experience that I will always remember.
“We’re really proud of how we represented Lincoln on the national stage and I hope this inspires more students to apply in future years, as it would be great to see University of Lincoln become a regular fixture on the show.”
