Update on Carholme Road improvements scheme
Highways chiefs have published an overview of progress on the Carholme Road improvement project in Lincoln and have updated future works.
The fourth month scheme by Lincolnshire County Council started at the beginning of July and includes improvements to surfacing drainage, kerbs and pavements.
August’s achievements
- Installed new highways surface water drainage gullies and laterals within Phase 2
- Carried out carriageway resurfacing in Phases 1 and 2 from Nelson Street to Moor Street
- Completed drainage and footway improvements at Gresham Street
- Started drainage works within Phase 3 installing new LCC Surface water drainage Gullys and laterals
- Reinstated and repaired ironworks
- Continued work on the Roman Wharf uncontrolled crossing
What’s happening in September
- Carry out night-time carriageway resurfacing works on Carholme Road Roundabout
- Continue footway resurfacing in localised areas throughout the site
- Install new LCC surface water drainage gullies and laterals within Phase 3 (Roman Wharf to Severn Street)
- Continue reinstating and repairing ironworks
Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures
- Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals on weekdays throughout the project
Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures
- Continued narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals will be in place on weekdays
- Lane closures on Carholme Roundabout starting on Monday, September 8 for one week
- Night-time road closures from 7pm to 6am on the following dates:
- Phase 2 / Charlesworth Street to Roman Wharf – ongoing to Monday 1 September
- Carholme Road roundabout – Monday 15 September for up to two weeks
- Phase 3 / Roman Wharf to Severn Street – Monday 29 September for up to two weeks
- Phase 4 / Severn Street to the golf club – Thursday 9 October for up to two weeks
