Building stronger community connections
Training to combat loneliness is being delivered to support residents with building positive connections within their communities and tackling social isolation.
A fully-funded workshop is being delivered by Civil Society Consulting (CSC) which launched a national campaign, Steps to Togetherness, to offer 32 practical actions that can help everyone reduce feelings of seclusion.
These steps include things like accepting other points of view, saying hello to your neighbours, and volunteering for a cause you care about.
Mark Ereira-Guyer, Founder Director of Civil Society Consulting, explained the 32 Steps to Togetherness: “We’re building a grassroots, anti-fascist movement around this ‘practical guide’ – connecting civil society and faith organisations across the UK that are bringing people together in their respective communities.”
CSC enables people to thrive by providing affordable or free support and has concluded that many issues are caused by lack of social connection and loss of community.
As part of the movement, CSC has introduced a learning programme which includes the Building Connections training being offered in Lincoln.
Staff, volunteers, trustees and board members of moluntary, community, faith, social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations will have the opportunity to develop skills to support their communities. Organisations with a clear social or environmental mission are also welcome to attend.
In order to participate, registered organisation addresses must be in one of the following areas:
- City of Lincoln
- North Kesteven
- South Kesteven
- East Lindsey
