Harry’s bid to raise £2,000 for special needs school
Harry Lawrence is halfway through two challenges to raise money for St. Christopher’s Special School in Lincoln.
With a target of £2,000 Harry, from Welton, has already completed the Lincoln 10K (pictured below) and has raised £575. He was also taking part in the Belvoir Castle 5K Tough Mudder on July 5.
“Having worked previously with both adults and children with special needs, I am motivated to fundraise to help a wider community of young people from this background,” explained Harry.
“I have been given a tour of the school and met some of the students. The school has advised they would like to put any money raised for them towards equipment such as swings and tricycles – this equipment needs to be robust and be suitably constructed for those of secondary school age to use.
“The sensory nature of this equipment will enable the students to stim, (self-stimulation behaviour seen in autistic people) self soothe, engage with peers and in the case of the students with physical disabilities – manoeuvre round the school.
“Given the sensory needs of the school’s student body the Tough Mudder felt particularly appropriate as a means to fundraise with it being a robust sensory physical test where participants potentially face mud, water, ice, electricity and heights.”
Harry has an anonymous donor who will donate 20% of what he manages to raise, up to £400, so he is hoping people will help him reach the target through his JustGiving page:
