Imps’ staff join cancer challenge
Staff at Lincoln City FC, its Academy and Foundation have joined forces to take part in the annual Prostate United challenge.
All participants in the challenge must complete a 3k, 5k or 10k run every day in the calendar month or cycle the equivalent distance. October is the month for local football teams to test themselves.
The participants have chosen a tier based on what is a challenge for them as they join professional clubs across the country as part of the annual Prostate United challenge, which aims to secure a future in which no man dies from this form of cancer.
Prostate Cancer UK figures show that the disease kills one man every 45 minutes: “That's thousands of our teammates, dads, partners and brothers who won't get to see another game. But it doesn't have to be this way. The money we raise will help fund lifesaving research into better tests and treatments that could save men's lives.”
City’s participants in the 2024 challenge are: Jez George (director of football), Michael Skubala (head coach), Calum Oakenfold (head of academy and coaching), Isaac Rice (assistant YDP coach), Ross Campbell (academy coach), Mark Johnson (designated safeguarding officer), Marshall Dixon (player care manager), Trish Jackman (performance psychologist), Matt Drury (football development manager, Lincoln City Foundation).
Their target is to raise £5,000 - see more at www.weareimps.com
