Online help for young cancer patients

Online help for young cancer patients

A new website has been launched for children and young people who have cancer.

The 0-25 Cancer Services website brings together NHS services across the East Midlands that provide care and specialist services for children, teenagers and young adults in Lincolnshire.

Being diagnosed with cancer can turn life upside down at any age. Children, teenagers and young adults have specific needs due to their age that can create challenges at this difficult time.

The site aims to provide specialist age-appropriate care and emotional, psychological and social support to young people under 25 in the region and to their family and friends.

It was produced in collaboration with patients, family members, carers and members of staff from the services whose ideas and suggestions combined to create a vibrant, colourful and user-friendly website.

There are easy to navigate sections which provide a wide range of practical and informative content selected by the group to be helpful and supportive to others facing similar challenges.

The various NHS services are explained clearly and simply with lots of videos and easy to understand information to help website visitors of all ages fully understand their diagnosis, treatment, supportive care and next steps.

As well as providing details of the services at the local centres, the website also signposts to trusted sources of information and support from a wide range of charities and other organisations.
