Visit museum for a Victorian Christmas

A special Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day will be held at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life this Friday (December 20).

Open from 10am to 4pm, the event will feature games, craft activities and the chance to meet Mother Christmas.

Meet Mr Black, the printer, who will be making festive cards for visitors to take home. There’ll also be the chance to speak to the cook who’ll be in the kitchen preparing for the Christmas feast. The event costs £4 per child, with accompanying adults free.

Steve Dunk, museum visitor experience manager said: “Christmas comes but once a year, and so to does our Victorian Christmas Family Fun Day!

“Many of the Christmas traditions that we still enjoy today were made popular in Britain during the Victorian era – including decorating a tree and Christmas dinner – so there’s a reason this period is so closely associated with the festive season.

“Come on in out of the cold and enjoy a warm, welcoming, traditional Victorian Christmas with us at the museum.”

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life on Burton Road, Lincoln, is open Friday – Tuesday, 10am to 4pm (last entry at 3.45pm).
