Churchill Exhibition at Doddington Hall

Churchill Exhibition at Doddington Hall

A unique exhibition exploring the life and legacy of Winston Churchill is being held at Doddington Hall to mark the 150th anniversary of the stateman’s birth in 1874 and the 60th year since his death in 1965.

The wide-ranging displays of memorabilia belong to the Bourn Collection – a private assemblage not open to the public - and offers a personal glimpse into Churchill’s enduring impact through photographs from the his family’s archive, paintings, commemorative ceramic and metal busts, memorabilia, and even a Madame Tussaud’s waxwork.

The collector Hugh Bourn OBE was a successful farmer and property developer, who got his first Royal Doulton figure of Churchill in 1998 and continued to collect for the rest of his life.

Hugh attributed his interest in Churchill directly to the sense of confidence and leadership that Churchill provided as Prime Minister when he was a schoolboy during the Second World War.

The exhibition in the Stable Yard Gallery is open Wednesday – Sunday, 11am - 3pm until March 30 and admission is free.
