Indie film screenings in Lincoln

Cinema fans were treated to three days of the best of independent cinema from across the globe at Indie-Lincs International Film Festival and can look forward to future screenings.

Audiences enjoyed over 40 films, filmmaker Q&As, networking events and an awards ceremony. The curated programme included romantic comedies, thrillers, futuristic dystopian tales, journeys of self-discovery, as well as an exploration of serious themes such as gender identity.

The festival may be over for another year but monthly film screenings are planned at Lincoln Arts Centre as Festival Director Mikey Murray explained: “At Indie-Lincs Presents screenings we show an independent feature film and where possible we do a Q&A with the filmmakers.

“The joy of it is that our audience can ask directors their burning questions. Our festival and film screenings are very relaxed and we often go to White Horse afterward to chat about what we’ve watched.”

BFI Film Audience Network sponsors the monthly film screenings. Future Indie-Lincs Presents screening dates:

  • Thursday 10 April
  • Thursday 8 May
  • Tuesday 24 June
  • Thursday 24 July

Indie-Lincs Coordinator Angela Waddell added: “There is nothing like a bit of Hollywood escapism but often it is independent films which highlight the pressing issues and marginalised voices from the world we live in today. Indie-Lincs is dedicated to offering a platform to these filmmakers.”
