Futuristic winners
Visions of robot butlers, houses on stilts, self-driving cars and water-borne transport in North Kesteven were conjured by the imaginations of youngsters who took part in a writing competition.
The contest was among activities marking the 50th anniversary of North Kesteven District Council and pupils from Key Stage 2 were invited to describe the area might look like in 50 years, by considering changes in technology, the environment and community.
Entries included some of council’s priorities such as like play facilities, sustainable housing with solar panels, innovative building design and rewilding with more futuristic ideas of virtual reality headsets to talk to animals and trips to the moon.
Council Chairman Cllr Andrew Hagues, who helped to judge the written submissions, said: “We had some really excellent entries and I would like to thank all of those who participated in the event.”
