Lincoln College Group hosts Moroccan aeronautics delegation

The Air & Space Institute (ASI) in Newark, part of the Lincoln College Group, recently welcomed a delegation from Morocco’s aeronautics training institution IMA, as part of a British Council-funded international exchange.

The visit is part of a reciprocal partnership, following Lincoln College Group’s earlier trip to Morocco, where staff toured leading aerospace sites including Spirit Aerosystems and the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation.

The collaboration aims to strengthen vocational education and foster shared strategies for addressing skills shortages in the aerospace sector.

During their time in Newark, the Moroccan guests met with ASI’s industry partners, including Ascent Flying Services, Affinity Flying Training Services, and the Midlands Aerospace Alliance. They toured training facilities, including ASI’s ALSIM-AL250 flight simulator, and engaged with students and staff at Newark College.

Rick Long, Director of International Relations at Lincoln College, said the visit highlighted how both countries can share knowledge and training practices. “We’re proud to showcase our inclusive and innovative approaches to technical education, and we look forward to ongoing collaboration with our Moroccan colleagues,” he said.

The programme also emphasised the importance of increasing female participation in aerospace careers and developing more modern, inclusive training pathways. IMA’s General Manager, Raphael Samson, praised Lincoln’s immersive learning methods and inclusive ethos.

The initiative is supported by the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships programme, which promotes international collaboration in higher and technical education.
