Strong STEM choice for sixth formers at UTC

Lincoln UTC Sixth Form offers a specialist post-16 education tailored to students with a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

With a strong focus on STEM, Lincoln UTC delivers both traditional A Levels and the BTEC Engineering Extended Diploma.

“This forward-thinking curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful futures in high-demand industries,” said Principal Stuart Hamer.

“Our Sixth Form provides a unique learning environment where academic excellence and personalised support go hand in hand. In the most recent A Level performance tables, Lincoln UTC achieved amongst the highest value-added score of any provider in Lincolnshire, a testament to our commitment to student progress and success.

“With small class sizes and a calm, purposeful atmosphere, students receive tailored support from dedicated and specialist staff who are passionate about education and student outcomes. Ofsted has recognised the exceptional relationships between staff and students, noting that “pupils appreciate how staff go ‘above and beyond’ for them, which contributes to excellent attendance and achievement.”

Approximately half of UTC’s sixth form students follow a traditional A Level route, while the other half opt for a full-time technical engineering pathway, equivalent to three A Levels. The Principal added this flexibility ensures that each student can pursue a route that aligns with their aspirations and career goals.

“Students at Lincoln UTC are mature, motivated, and ambitious, with a deep understanding of the opportunities that await them beyond school. Our Sixth Form is a launchpad for bright futures in the fast-evolving STEM landscape.”
