Roadworks update
Works to improve Freeman Road in North Hykeham will start in late October and take up to three months.
Cllr Richard Davies, Lincolnshire Council Council’s executive member for Highways, said: “Freeman Road in North Hykeham is in an absolutely dire state, with the road literally crumbling to pieces. Because of that, we’ll be starting work to rebuild it from the ground up starting on 28th October.
“As part of the works, the team will be using over 2,500 tonnes of tarmac and other road-building materials to reconstruct the 500-metre industrial estate road.
“While on site, we’ll also be carrying out some drainage and kerbing repairs which need to be done.”
The work will start on Monday, October 28 (no working over the Christmas period) and daytime temporary signals and night road closures from 7pm to 6am (including weekends) will be in force. There is no diversion route, but access will be maintained for all businesses and emergency services.
Elsewhere on county roads August was a busy summer month for the Highways team with over 6000 potholes repaired as part of its ‘On the road in ’24’ commitment to deliver improvement works across the county.
As well as the 6,105 potholes, 163 roads have also been surface-dressed, 28 roads resurfaced, 34 footpaths rebuilt, 58 footpaths resurfaced, and seven drainage schemes completed.
Crews repaired 485 streetlights and tended to 347 call outs for tree or other vegetation problems.
