Support for domestic abuse victims

Support for domestic abuse victims

In this latest feature in memory of Holly Bramley we look at the support services available for victims of domestic abuse.

The full extent of the abuse that Holly endured will never be known, but it only ended when she was murdered by her partner in 2023 at Bassingham near Lincoln.

That is a tragedy that can never be undone and Holly’s mum, Annette Bramley, has been devastated by her death, but is determined to channel her grief into something positive by raising awareness of abuse, highlighting support and urging people to seek help.

Annette is working with Lincolnshire Police and the Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service (LDASS) to help other victims as part of the #ForHolly campaign. “We, as a family, are asking and encouraging anyone living with domestic abuse to seek support and tell someone. There are services out there who can help victims find the happiness and freedom they deserve. LDASS provides non-judgmental support to anyone who reaches out.”

LDASS is committed to providing services to help anyone who may find themselves living in an abusive situation: “We offer specialist support and assistance to individuals and families in Lincolnshire who are experiencing domestic abuse. If you or someone you know is going through domestic abuse, we're here to help,” said a spokesperson.

“We are here to listen and we won’t judge or tell you what to do. We provide a confidential service and can offer you advice and guidance on a range of situations and signpost you to relevant services in the local area.”
