Aggressive Albion looking for points against Imps
There may be almost half a league and 14 points between them, but Imps boss Michael Skubala is not expecting an easy ride at home against Burton Albion tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
City want to move closer to the play-offs while Albion under Gary Bowyer need to get out of the drop zone and the manager has instigated a turn-around.
Skubala said Bowyer’s style of play may not be for the purists, but it has made Burton hard to beat: “They’re a lot more organised and a lot more aggressive off the ball…we’re going to have deal with that.”
It’s not just the difference between points and places that make the Imps favourites tomorrow, there’s also their own recent form including the 3-0 thrashing of Mansfield away during the week
This was the culmination of young talent and experienced skill that the head coach has been working to create, combined with the side’s focus on set pieces.
“With set pieces it’s good to see the hard work coming to fruition. I thought on Tuesday we looked a real threat with them.”
Veterans Sam Clucas and James Collins have also had the desired impact since joining the club: “They’re not just here for their influence off the pitch - first and foremost they want to play – they are chomping at the bit to play. They’re good pros on and off the pitch and that’s something younger players can learn from.”
