Cathedral lights mark VE Day

Cathedral lights mark VE Day

Lincoln Cathedral will be lit in red, white and blue to mark the anniversary of VE Day.

The commemorations are being celebrated in Lincoln today (see yesterday’s story) and include a special VE Day Evensong in the cathedral at 5.30pm. It will remain open between 6.30-8.30pm for lighting of candles and quiet reflection.

The lights on the cathedral becoming visible in the summer skies across the city tonight will herald the lighting of the VE Day Beacon on the walls of Lincoln Castle, which is part of a national ceremony.
