City murder investigation - update

Investigators want to piece together the last movements of a man who died after suffering serious head injuries on Sunday night.

Officers are asking for help to understand the circumstances surround the 55-year-old’s death, including people he may have had contact with.

Police believe the man was walking from the Queen in the West pub in Moor Street, Lincoln, in the direction of Carholme Road at some point just before to 11.10pm on December 8 when he was assaulted and then an ambulance was called.

“It is not clear the exact route he took, and we are asking people who live in the West End area to check any CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage from between 10.45pm and 11.20pm which may show our victim walking along the street and eventually interacting with someone shortly after 11pm,” said a force spokesperson.

“There is another line of enquiry we are also following. We are asking anyone with dashcam footage who was travelling along the A57 around the Saxilby area to check footage and see if they have captured a white L-reg Mercedes X-class pick-up truck travelling in the Lincoln direction. We are also keen to locate footage of that vehicle in the Carholme Road area.

“We have launched a Major Incident Public Portal (MiPP) for the investigation under the name Operation Snowdrop. Footage and information can be uploaded to that portal directly, and you can also call 101, quoting incident 425 of 8 December with more information.”

A 37-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody for questioning.
