Diversion for repairs to Scothern Lane, Sudbrooke

Recent high temperatures and heavy vehicles have damaged the top of a stretch of road along Scothern Lane, Sudbrooke.

Emergency resurfacing will place next week with a road closure needed throughout.

Karen Cassar, assistant director of Highways at Lincolnshire County Council said: “The recent high temperatures caused the top layer of a section of Scothern Lane to soften. Across that period of time there was also excessive heavy vehicle traffic and, as a result, the road surface was damaged.

“Our team needs to replace a section of the top two layers of the road between Church Lane and Holme Drive down to a total depth of 100mm. These works need to be undertaken and delivered as quickly as possible because the road is currently under a closure due to safety concerns.

“Replacement of the road surface will renew this section of the highway network.”

The works will be carried out at Scothern Lane between Church Lane and Holme Drive and start on Tuesday, July 29 with a scheduled end date of Friday, August 1.

Work times onsite will be from 07.30am to 5pm, subject to the weather, and the signed diversion route will be along the A46, A15, A158 and vice versa.

â€śThese emergency reactive works will cost around ÂŁ205,000 to deliver and will see the damaged section of road restored to full working order and open to the public.

“We will do everything possible to get the works completed as quickly as we can. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone effected for their patience and understanding whilst we get this heat damage repaired and the road back to full working order.”
