Flood warnings continue

Flood warnings continue

A combination of rain and snow has led to flooding in and around the Lincoln area with warnings likely to be in place for the next couple of days.

Some properties have already been affected and roads have been closed due to the River Witham rising with more issues expected near the Barlings Eau and along the main river in the Low Barlings and Short Ferry area.

This morning the River Witham level at Bardney was 3.68 metres with property flooding possible at 3.28 metres, while the levels at Langworth were 2.96 metres with the risk height being 2.96 metres so residents are being urged to monitor their local levels through the government’s Floodline service – details below.

Flooding inside properties along the River Till could also be possible with a warning issued for the Fossdyke Canal and tributaries from Torksey to Lincoln, including Saxilby,

The River Witham and associated Fens are also rising from Washingborough to Metheringham, including Washingborough Fen, Heighington Fen, Branston Booths, Branston Fen, Potterhanworth Booths, Potterhanworth Fen, Bardney, Nocton Fen, Dunston Fen and Metheringham Fen.

Floodline expects the river to remain high throughout the next few days with flooding to gardens, driveways or outhouses is possible close to the river.

A similar impact is to continue along the Lincoln water courses of the Witham, Sincil Dyke, Great Gowts Drain, Fossdyke Canal, Boultham Drain, Brayford Pool.

While flooding in properties is not likely residents are being warned to avoid footpaths and roads near low-lying watercourses which may have flooded.
