Lincoln Foodbank issues urgent appeal as stock levels reach crisis point

Lincoln Foodbank has issued an urgent appeal after revealing its stock levels are the lowest they’ve been in years.

The charity, which provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis across the city, says it is struggling to keep up with rising demand at a time when donations are falling.

With more people than ever turning to the Foodbank for help, the organisation has warned it is at serious risk of not being able to meet the growing need.

A spokesman said: “We’re reaching out now because we need our community to come together. Without urgent support, we may not be able to get food to those who need it most.”

The charity is calling on local businesses, schools, community groups, and individuals to help in any way they can. There are several ways to get involved:

  • Organise a food collection with your team, customers, or neighbours
  • Make a financial donation to help buy emergency supplies
  • Share the appeal across your networks and social media channels

The Foodbank is in particular need of essential long-life items such as tinned vegetables, tinned meals, and UHT milk. To help ensure the right items are donated, supporters are encouraged to download the ‘Bank the Food’ app, which provides an up-to-date list of the most-needed items:

Lincoln Foodbank says it can provide promotional materials and collection support to anyone interested in getting involved, and is open to working together on fundraising campaigns or community initiatives.

“We know people are stretched, but even small actions can make a big difference,” the spokesperson added. “Together, we can make sure no one in our city goes hungry.”
