There are still some tickets left for this week’s Pint of Science – a festival of learning which takes research out of the lab into local pubs and eateries.
Sixteen researchers from the University of Lincoln will share their scientific discoveries at events which start tonight at The Cardinal’s Hat, The Pessimist and DoughLoco.
Tickets are available for Health Night (Monday) and Children and Families (Tuesday) at the Cardinal’s Hat where the talks include Mum, Dad, donor: Mitochondrial disease and designer babies’, which looks at groundbreaking technique of IVF using DNA from three parents.
Over at Dough Loco on Wednesday visitors can explore strange new worlds to find out how might Star Trek act as a blueprint for the colonisation of space – could the well-loved sci-fi series provide us with a blueprint for interplanetary travel and the possibilities of living on another world?
Kay Ritchie, Associate Professor in Cognitive Psychology at the University and Pint of Science lead for the University of Lincoln, explained: “We’re really excited to bring Pint of Science back to Lincoln for our fifth year in our local venues. We’re looking forward to showcasing some University of Lincoln research in a fun and interactive way. With eight events across three nights, there’s something for everyone.”
The Lincoln festival will also include Creative Reactions - a programme where science meets art to produce unique works of art, inspired by scientists’ research, which will be displayed in Lincoln Cathedral between May 13- 23.
